Lea Anderson is a soldier in the British Special Forces but has now come to doubt her career choice. The secrecy, bloodshed, and lack of a normal life are too much for the young woman who finally decides to call it quits, but not before going on one more mission in the Middle East to ensure her team and stepbrother Paul get through it safely. When their unit runs into an ambush set by the terrorist they are supposed to kill, Lea and Paul get captured and forced to make a life-and-death decision: one of them will get to leave, and one of them will die. In a moment of weakness, Paul bails and leaves Lea in the terrorist's hands, sure to face her maker. Years later, she returns to the UK not as a former hostage but as a soldier, fighting the establishment that shaped her into a highly trained avenging angel.
Except for a few scenes in London and Berlin, the film was shot on location in Ukraine and completed at the end of 2019. We planned to screen-test the movie in the USA and Europe to create a final version based on audience reaction. Unfortunately, the pandemic caused numerous issues, and the entire production almost collapsed overnight. Unable to resolve the problems created by COVID 19, it was impossible to re-evaluate the issues and correct them. In short: HEROES & COWARDS was a failure. The film was completely lost in the mass of films on offer in 2020 and 2021.
This is the backstory.
We will now re-launch this outstanding independent production in a new edition and present it for the first time at the AFM Market in Las Vegas. The movie deserves to be shown to a wider audience. Unfortunately, some of our war-torn male Ukrainian actors and crew members will not see the restart.
